    Harbormaster – November 2018

    November is here and cold weather is upon us.  Some people are battening down the hatches to ride out the winter and other people are looking for that last day of Nirvana on the lake.  I’ve heard from a lot of you about parking this year and I know it’s already a pretty full sailing club. This is something that we will be addressing for next winter. Next year we will have both assigned parking for summer dry sailors and winter storage. Parking, like the docks will be assigned based on seniority. We also have the paperwork from years ago on assigned parking so if you put your boat in the same spot year after year you will not be losing that spot. Last but not least, as always I still have plenty of jobs (both large and small) around the club that need to be done.Remember to contact me if you need or want to get work credit hours.

    Membership – November 2018

    Welcome to EJ Williams, a legacy member sailing ‘It Sails Too’, a Catalina 25 that’s been around the club for some time.  EJ will be accompanied by Rachel Terrell in his sailing endeavors.
    It’s that time of year and we will be mailing Annual Dues statements the end of January, 2019.  So please notify us if there have been any changes in your mailing address.  If you’ve had changes, please also go to our website, log in, go to the Members page and update your personal information on the Member Listing.
    For those of you who are snowbirds and will be leaving us early in January, you will receive your statements within the next week or so.
    As always, 2019 dues, slip and winter storage fees will be due 2/28/19.  If you had a permanent slip in 2018, it is necessary that you meet this deadline if you wish to retain your present slip.

    Ship’s Store – November 2018

    Ship’s Store

    THE BURGEES ARE IN! The Ship’s Store has purchased 30 burgees + received an additional 15 free burgees  from our usual burgee vendor, Prestige Flag. They are in stock.  They will be available for purchase at the Final Bash.  You can also contact the Ship’s Store at any time. The cost to you is what the club paid the vendor – $10.00 each.  This is a bargain. You may, of course, tip the Ship’s Store Manager with additional roast beef at the Bash.

     

    With the holidays coming up, reward your favorite sailor, first mate or ??? with authentic ECSC logo items from Coral Reef Sailing Apparel.  Any clothing item they sell can have the logo put on.  Allow 2-3 weeks for delivery.

    Publicity – Grounds Committee November 2018

    Fall Work Party Coming

    The last main activity for the Grounds Committee will be the fall work party where we close up the club for the winter.  We have a lot of tasks to do including:

    • Winterize the bathrooms and the power washer.
    • Stack the picnic tables in the upper shelter.
    • Rake leaves.
    • General club cleanup and maintenance items.
    • Clean up the grills.
    • Clean out the fire pit.
    • Miscellaneous painting
    • Remove the RC boats and boat lift

    We will need several people to bring their hand tools, rakes, shovels, etc.  The work party will be this Saturday November 3 starting at 8:30.  This is your last chance to get work credits to apply to next year’s membership dues.

    The ECSC 2018 sailing season is winding down and, while we still have great weather, the lake water level is getting low! I highly recommend everyone keep an eye on how much water they have at their respective dock so they don’t get left high and dry. The water levels can be monitored at this link: Eagle Creek Water Level  .

    A great time was had by all at the Governor’s Cup Regatta and ECSC Lobsterfest. We had a terrific turnout of traveling racers and a full house for the Lobsterfest.  Our last regatta (the Hornback) is coming up this month, and the parking lot will be filling up with trailers and boats afterward. Please remember to park your trailers and boats such that we can get as many on the grounds as possible! We have been pressed for space to get them all in during the last several years. Happy sailing to all this fall, and enjoy the gorgeous weather!
